Crabgrass

Crabgrass

Poacea Digitaria ciliaris

Non-native/Naturalized

Arrived from Europe or Asia and is found from Florida to New Mexico and as far north as Maine and Colorado. It’s a clump forming grass that spreads via stolon and ant spread seeds. Found oftentimes in abandoned fields, orchards, nurseries, margins, right of ways, and plantations. Mourning dove, Northern Bobwhite, Wild Turkey, and song birds all love the seeds of crabgrass as well. Turkey eat the leaves, and to a lesser extent White-tail deer.
